Captured in Colombia one of the leaders of the Los Lobos criminal gang from Ecuador

Last year he had already been arrested on two other occasions and tried for possession of drugs and weapons

One of the leaders of the Ecuadorian criminal gang called “Los Lobos” was captured in Colombia thanks to aa collaboration between the police forces of the two countriesas announced this Thursday by the Minister of the Interior of Ecuador, Juan Zapata.

The inmate is Luis Arboleda, nicknamed the “Ciccio Luis”, who had already been arrested last year on two other occasions and tried for possession of drugs and weapons. In both cases he managed to be released due to controversial judicial decisions strongly criticized by the President of Ecuador, Guillermo Lasso.

“Los Lobos” are considered by Ecuadorian authorities as one of the organized crime gangs causing the increase in violence both on the street and inside prisons, where a series of massacres have taken place since 2020 in clashes between rival gangs that are vying for internal control of prisons.

The “Louis Grasso” he was currently on the loose since Aprilthanks to a precautionary measure issued by a magistrate, after being arrested in December 2022 in the city of Quevedo together with six other people in a police operation against “Los Lobos”.

However, a few months later he was released on probation with the obligation to appear periodically at the prosecutor’s office which was prosecuting him, which he did not comply with when he presented a medical certificate which the authorities classified as false.
