German Foreign Minister says “I wish we could negotiate” with Putin

“Ukraine must be able to regain peace,” Baerbock condemned and added that “this will only work if this brutal Russian war of aggression is stopped

The minister of Foreign Affairs from Germany, Annalena Baerbock, said this Saturday that «he sees no basis for negotiations with the Russian presidentVladimir Putin, on Ukraine for the foreseeable future.”

“I wish we could negotiate, but for now It’s not about what you want, it’s about facing realityBaerbock explained in a joint interview with Ukrainian military member and former world boxing champion Wladimir Klitschko for German newspapers Bild and Welt and US digital media Politico, when asked whether it would be possible to negotiate with Putin.

The minister stressed that, in the run-up to Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, attempts had been made at the negotiating table to avoid the escalation. “The answer was that 100,000 soldiers entered”he denounced.

“Ukraine must be able to regain peace,” Baerbock said, adding that “this will only work if this brutal Russian war of aggression stops, if Russian soldiers leave Ukraine and these daily nightly drone strikes, missiles and bombs against Ukraine”.
